I go through a lot of black and white fabric, so I've been building my stash back up with some handpainted ones.
Mostly I use the Jacquard Textile paints, but I ran out of the white, so I used Golden's fluid acrylic in its place. It worked pretty well, but it does have a slightly stiffer hand when it dried. Fine for machine work but I wouldn't want to hand stitch through it.
I like to do a lot of rough writing both big and small, legible and not.
And just fast and crazy so it's all a little messy.
This was one of my favorite pieces made by dipping the Jacquard lid in white paint and printing with it 4 or 5 times.

P.S. Textile medium added judiciously, will give acrylic paint a softer hand for stitching. :-)

I like a nice stash of black and whites too....these are fantastic Robin and such fun to do. I love a splash of black and white in amongst bright colours.

Do you mix your paint with ormoline? It gives it a softer feel and makes the paint stretch further. I love all the samples.

I've never heard of ormoline and haven't mixed in textile medium either, but I will try both of those things--thanks for the tips. The Jacquard has a pretty soft hand, but I'm wondering if mixing in a little of those will make it even better. I'll let you know if it works.
I really like black and white and these look like fun. With one of my groups we are going to make a black and white fold book next month. Yes,it is tic-tac-toe - found on Wiki.

Black and white can be very exciting! Messy can be good! Great way to beef up your stash of b&w fabrics and have fun at the same time.
