Face #12

What if I start with a painted line drawing and fill in color book style?

This one was challenging. I tried to fill in all the way with color, but it became too much. I finally decided to keep part of it sketchy and was much happier with it.

Someone asked me what I'm going to do with all these faces. I have no plans at all. I'm just enjoying experimenting and will probably come back to work with favorites later. But maybe not.

It really does look like a painting. I had to look closely at the enlarged version to see how you'd pieced fabric to the face areas. Cool effect!

This one is very cool. What would happen if you did the same sort of thing -- with lighter (more pastel) hues?

This one I find especially appealing... the drawing plus fabric gives it a lot of individuality...

Thanks everyone--I'm always thinking of ways to combine painting and fabric, my two loves, so I like that this has a painterly effect.

Margaret, I think pastels, or white-on-white with a black painted line would have a totally different look and probably be very striking. I'll have to add that onto the experiment list.

wow, robin, i think you left just the right amount empty. i love this - the colors, the lines, everything.

i think you're a natural face drawer/painter/stitcher. : )

Z'anne--you're right--I am having way too much fun! And each one seems to lead to several more ideas.

Lynne, quite a compliment coming from the queen of face painting! Thanks.
